For most genealogists, trying to find out when a certain church cemeteries opened is important for tracing your relatives. Rondebosch Church opened for divine service 17th February 1834. This was not the present St Paul’s but a smaller one which was afterwards used as a chancel. Old Rustenburg Estate area was used to house coloured squatters. 1843 May 19

Wynberg St Johns Church : A group of evangelical Anglicans started worshipping together in Glebe cottage, Waterloo Road in Wynberg. As their numbers grew it became necessary to build a church. Legal authority was embodied in Ordinance 6 of 1833 (known as the Wynberg English Church Ordinance). The church was built and first consecrated in 1834.
