  1.Served as Sub-Inspector of the Frontier Armed & Mounted Police from A ug 1867 to Oct 1872. 2. In 1868 he took part in an expedition, led by Sir Walter Currie, to set tle a border dispute between the Orange Free State and Basutoland, and th is was followed by a series of operations between the White Kei and Ind we rivers, in order to quell the disturbances which had been inspired by N onesi, a widow of the late paramount chief of the Tembu people. 3.
