A hand-written list of postings at the Cast le which was made in 1930 from the original register in Amsterdam (Cape Ar chives VC 42/1738/39) records his names as Jurgen Hendrik Engelaar. The En gela surname appears to be unique to South Africa so it has perhaps been c orrupted locally from Engelaar. His place of origin is given as Minden b ut this may not have been his birthplace. Note: There is no Umlaut nor ref erence to Heinrich anywhere but his German origin would seem to indicate t hat Jurgen Heinrich is perhaps correct but that version never appears in a ny SA records.
