  1. Baptised in St Mary's Anglican church in Port Elizabeth by Rev J McClel and. 2. Adopted by Elizabeth Magaretha du Plessis (born Engela 07 02 1800) with out change of name. She was his half-sister and 29 years his senior. 3. He died on the farm Wilgerivier (4403ha) which he had purchased for £30 00 from his adoptive parents who were childless. Some sources state th at he inherited the farm but he only inherited £750 and the purchses is re corded in MOOC 7/1/267 R35 4.His grave is in the family cemetery on Glencoe, Somerset East 5.
