• Notes

  1. He was born in Aberdeen and arrived at the Cape at the age of sevente en in 1822 after having been recruited by Rev Thom. After spending five ye ars in the Karoo he returned to Scotland, taking an MA at Aberdeen and st udying Theology. 2. He was admitted as a minister in 1831 and spent 39 years in Swellenda m. The town of Robertson which originally was part of his congregation w as named after him. In 1872 he became minister to the Groote Kerk whi ch he served until he died. Overberg Origins. Edmund Burrows
